About

Steamroller exists to breathe life into stories, characters, and experiences in visual, physical, and virtual spaces. Each project that comes our way, be it a game, a film, or a theme park ride, exists in its own universe. It is our job to bring this multiverse to life. Our animators build believable characters and whole worlds in a multitude of universes, while our developers manipulate the rules of perception to transport you to a new definition of reality. We relish the opportunity to bring our clients’ universes to life while also developing our own stories.

COVER LETTER:

July 17, 2019

To:  Steamroller Studios

From: Romulo Colonia Pires

Dear Steamroller Studios,

I would like to apply for a position as a Mid-Level Animator.

As an animator, modeler, and rigger, I am very experienced with 3D Max, Motionbuilder, After Effects, and Photoshop.

My recent short film The Red Claw, merges live action with 3D animation and multi-layered visual effects.  I created all storyboards, 3D modeling, 3D sets, lighting, texturing, tracking, rigging and animation, and composited all CG with live action.

In my short, I was also the live action DP, editor, set designer, sound designer, director, and one of the actors. These skills help me in envisaging the integration between CG, live action, and animation performance.

I can work within a production pipeline to assemble 3d mapped planes and other CG assets, at different rendering resolutions.  I have worked with mocap, re-targeting, and editing of motion data.

Besides CG, I work with traditional animation, stop motion, and concept art.  My drawing skills would enable fast communication and understanding with other members of the team, facilitating workflow on any project.

My education is a MFA in Electronic Art in computer animation from The University of Cincinnati, a MA in Film Production from Georgia State University, and a BFA in Painting & Drawing from Georgia Southwestern State University.  I am an American citizen, fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French.

I think I would be a resourceful Mid-Level Animator, and could apply my background in animation, live action, and fine arts to benefit Steamroller Studios.  I would be grateful if you could visit my reels at

Thank you for your consideration.

Respectfully submitted,
