Steamroller exists to breathe life into stories, characters, and experiences in visual, physical, and virtual spaces. Each project that comes our way, be it a game, a film, or a theme park ride, exists in its own universe. It is our job to bring this multiverse to life. Our animators build believable characters and whole worlds in a multitude of universes, while our developers manipulate the rules of perception to transport you to a new definition of reality. We relish the opportunity to bring our clients’ universes to life while also developing our own stories.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am excited to be applying to join Steamroller Studios as an Animator. I have always had a strong passion for the interactive world that only video games are capable of creating; I view them as a piece of artwork that deserves time, purpose, and respect. I have an extensive background both playing and creating video games and believe I am well suited to this position.
I earned my Master’s degree in Interactive Entertainment with a focus in Animation from Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy at the University of Central Florida in December 2017. I received my Bachelor’s of Art with a double concentration in Graphic Design and Sculpture from Brevard College in May 2016. During my time at FIEA, I gained experience in multiple aspects of video game design including 3D modeling, rigging, particle effects, concepting, level design, and strong communication. Ultimately, I found that my fascination with the art of movement and how it is integrated into video games was well suited for animation. I enjoy all forms of animation and am experienced in 3D- and 2D-animation as well as motion capture. I feel the classes I have taken in both my graduate and undergraduate degrees have provided me with a thorough understanding of the creativity and teamwork required to develop a truly unique and captivating game.
My experiences in graduate school allowed me to develop many skills in addition to animation. I had the opportunity to take an improv class that taught me to be flexible and to adjust my ideas to accommodate any necessary changes during production of a project; I also learned to step out of my comfort zone and be open-minded to the opinions of others on my team.  While working on projects at FIEA I helped design many games using the Unreal Engine; implemented 3D animations, including ones done with motion capture; and worked with blueprints for altering scenery. As part of a team of artists, I worked to concept, develop, and animate a game in which the scene and story were designed around The Wizard of Oz alongside the art style of Tim Burton. Furthermore, two other students and I started a company focused on creating miniature figurines for table top games; my roles in this company were to help concept and to create molds from 3D-printed prototype figurines.
My application and resume are enclosed. As my education and interests have revolved around video games for as long as I can remember, and I look forward to hearing from you soon and joining the Steamroller team.
