Steamroller Spotlight: Meet Marissa
At Steamroller Studios, we have TONS to be proud of. Our work, our work ethic, our culture, our founders, but the real people who make it happen are what we are most proud of. Our team makes working here an amazing experience. With boundless creativity, energy that fills each and every room and zoom call, the Steamroller Studios team is without a doubt, one of the best in the industry.
We love to brag on our team, so we caught up with our Technology Head of Operations, Marissa Whitehill recently and threw a couple of zinger questions at her. In true Marissa form, she obliged and well, here we are.
MARISSA! Thanks so very much for spending some time with us today, I know how busy you are doing operating things as head of operations, but we promise to be gentle.
What do you love about Steamroller Studios?
M: Hands down the team! I absolutely love coming to work every day and being surrounded by people who support and encourage me (and each other) in all we do. We are greater together.
How long have you been at Steamroller?
M: Almost two years now.
What do you do for fun?
M: Read, hike, re-organize literally all the things, fail at cooking.
(Noted: fail at cooking, note to self, be busy when Marissa invites us over to dinner…)
What’s the last movie that you saw?
M: Hacksaw Ridge
What’s on your playlist?
M: (OVERACHIEVER ALERT): https://open.spotify.com/playlist/296YRqHH1spRPvCijEOK88?si=33e358ee39674e38
What’s your favorite food? (Not cooked by you, hopefully…)
M: Popcorn or Key Lime Pie or Cream-cheese Frosting
Ok, what’s your favorite video game?
M: I don’t play video games ( ironic I know )
What does the future of animation look like to you?
M: Automation and tools galore!
How do you get your mind in that creative zone?
M: Java java java! (and music)
(Noted: Marissa may or may not be jacked up on caffeine at any given time during the day…)
What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
M: I used to hate peanut butter ( like a psychopath )
(No argument here…)
Describe yourself using three words:
M: Hangry, Determined, Prepared
(Note: Marissa is overly caffeinated, hangry, and doesn’t play video games. Approach with caution.)
Wow Marissa, it was so great to get to know you a little bit better and to understand the brilliance that is you. We’ve all learned so much today. Marissa can’t cook, sucks down coffee like a crazy person, is hangry, and used to profoundly despise peanut butter. In all seriousness, we love what you bring to the Steamroller team and couldn’t do it without you. Thanks so much for sharing some of your story with us today! We’re so lucky to have you.
